Executive Team

Douglas Horne |

Founder & CEO

A corporate development specialist with over 20 years of experience building successful teams and businesses in many industries. He has taken many companies public, raised millions of dollars in financings, and is well versed in regulatory and public affairs. Doug was the British Columbia MLA for Coquitlam Burke Mountain from 2009-2015. He was Deputy Speaker from 2013-2015 and Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier from 2011-2013. He has also served on the Provincial Treasury Board and the Legislative Review Committee, was Chair of the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services, and was Deputy Chair of the Select Standing Committee for Public Accounts. He was also Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the U.S. Council of State Governments West.

Scott Duddy |

Chief Operating Officer

Scott Duddy has over 15+ years of international business experience in finance, operations, sales, and business development in large, medium-sized, and small organizations. As a results-oriented leader, Scott has successfully driven growth strategies internationally within the packaging industry over the last 8+ years. Scott holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Business with an Accounting Focus and a Masters in Business Management from Seton Hill University.

Gerry Lalonde |

CFO

Gerry Lalonde, CPA, CGA, is the Chief Financial Officer for Evanesce Packaging, and is responsible for the financial health and resources of the company and providing  direction and ensuring that the company has access to the financial resources necessary to execute its strategic plan.

Gerry brings a broad breadth of experience to the company, through his formal training in finance and accounting and over fourty years of business experience, both nationally and internationally, in such diverse roles as Chief Financial Officer for a Fortune 500 corporation’s New Zealand subsidiary, Chief Information Officer for its Canadian operation, Chief Operating Officer for a national telecommunications provider, Chief Executive Officer for an international software company and Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer for an international alternative energy company.

Gerry is a graduate of the University of Ottawa were he obtained a Bachelors in Administration degree. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants Association of Canada, past Chairman of the Ottawa Chapter of the Certified General Accountants of Ontario, past member of the Advisory Board of CGA International Business Research Centre at Queen’s University and a mentor with Futurpreneur Canada.

Dr. Karl Tiefenbacher |

Research & Development Lead

Karl Tiefenbacher headed Franz Haas’s (see below) R&D team for over 25 years. He has been working with Haas on the development of Evanesce’s packaging material and recently retired from Haas. He is the author of “The Technology of Wafers and Waffles” (ISBN: 9780128094389) and is regarded as a global expert in mass production of moulded food products.

In-House Counsel

Greg is a corporate lawyer with extensive cross border Canada and US experience, including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, financing, litigation management, corporate structure (Canada and the US), internal policies, and governance. Greg has been corporate secretary for public companies and worked closely with CEOs and Chairpersons on planning and attending Board of Director meetings. Greg has led corporate risk management, handling insurance programs, litigation management, and operational risks. Greg has also been the Privacy Officer for large North American companies operating in Canada and the United States.

Jonathan is a dependable detail-oriented professional, with cultivated experience in Human Resources, Recruitment, Relationship Management, Client Development, Design, Marketing. Jonathan has a proven track record of increasing productivity and company profitability over the last 20 years Throughout his career in management, consulting, and recruiting, Jonathan has maintained a keen focus on the international marketplace, including its changes, challenges, and evolution. As a result, he firmly believes in taking a progressive approach in terms of building and sustaining businesses, creating productive interaction in the workplace, and supporting positive relationships in the business environment.  Jonathan has worked extensively in Canada and internationally, he provides a strategic approach to assessing, managing, and maintaining talent and healthy businesses.

Natasha Chawla |

Global VP, Marketing

Natasha Chawla is a senior marketing executive with over 25 years of progressive marketing, e-commerce and business growth experience across large, medium sized and small organizations. A results oriented leader; her experience spans across product marketing, digital strategy, market research, brand management, e-commerce growth and P&L management across various sectors. Natasha brings both client and agency-side experience and has been successful in driving revenues for companies like Unilever, Coca Cola, ECO Canada, ENMAX, Omantel (leading telecom operator in Middle East), BPL Mobile, and LG Electronics. Natasha’s commitment to developing insightful marketing strategies and integrating omni-channel strategies has resulted in ongoing and measurable success. She has been consistently recognized for visionary leadership and innovation in integrating corporate, digital and customer strategy to enhance brand value.

Natasha is also an entrepreneur and is currently working on developing a line of vegan and plant-protein based sauces.

Global VP, Sales

Brett has over 20 years of experience leading teams in CPG, data analytics and retail loyalty.  He has successfully created go-to-market strategies with startups to achieve significant business growth while building high-performing international teams in sales, marketing and operations. Brett adheres to a customer-centric and consultative approach to create mutually beneficial outcomes.

Brett has been a results-oriented leader with Keurig/Dr Pepper, Catalina, Symphony EYC and TCC Global. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Board Director & Chair

Jeffrey is a senior executive, experienced board director & lawyer involved with international trade, the film & TV industry, real estate, the mining sector and early-stage angel investment. He has been with the company since the early stages and sat on the company subsidiary board, has been the Corporate Secretary and has recently taken on the role of Board Chair and Director.

Robert Chant |

Director

A strong advocate of green solutions to meet global sustainable goals, Robert (Bob) Chant brings over 25 years of experience as a corporate leader and political advisor in senior level roles across organizations in the private and public sectors. Immediately prior to joining Strategy Corp, Bob held the position of Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Communications at Loblaws Companies Limited where he managed corporate social responsibility, public relations, government and industry relations, and communication to the company’s 200,000 colleagues and franchise employees. Prior to joining Loblaws, Bob was a senior executive at Labatt Brewing where he served as the Director of Corporate Affairs. Within the community, Bob is the Vice Chair of Canadian Stewardship Services Alliance, Recycle BC and Multi-Material Stewardship Western Canada. In all, Bob shares strong beliefs towards economic and environmental causes, and cherishes his family time.

Michael Fleetwood |

Director

An astute leader guiding organizations to growth, backed by over 4 decades of experience Michael (Mike) Fleetwood, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in processing equipment, production procedures and large-scale manufacturing. He is the founder of Transatlantic Consulting LLC which helps European companies to work effectively with their North American subsidiaries, by helping them develop and execute effective strategies. Mike recently retired as Managing Director Americas for Haas/Buhler after having spent over 30 years at the company. Prior to that, he was the Deputy Director at Spooner Vicars for 15 years. He is widely recognized in the industry and has built an extensive network in CPG markets, specifically baked goods, and confectionary. Mike holds an Hons. mechanical engineering degree from the University of Salford and is a passionate world citizen who promotes sustainable endeavours, enjoys golf, is an avid cyclist, and enjoys spending time with his family.

 

Patrick Wang |

Executive Vice President

Patrick has over 25 years of experience in marketing, business development, managing large sales teams, and large business management. His experience spans across the sectors of public health, medicine, food and education. He was the head of the OTC division of Kunming Pharmaceutical Group and Group Marketing Director of Wuhan Jianmin Pharmaceutical Group; the two companies merged, under his leadership to become HuaLi Global Corp., a leader in the pharmaceutical sector in China.

His extensive experience covers the entire product line system management and development, from research and development, to market analysis of the entire process, consumer behaviour research, advertising promotion, public relations, as well as budgeting and the preparation of annual financial reports.

Patrick Wang graduated from the Faculty of Environmental Medicine at Bethune Medical University and worked for CFDA in Beijing for five years before completing his MBA at CUBU China. His interpersonal skills, including personality and management style, have been instrumental in building and managing a team of 3,000 employees for Juneng Limited. The team achieved a 20-fold increase in sales in four years, with revenues of 1 billion yuan ($200 million) in 2002, making Juneng as the second fastest-growing company in China’s Health Food industry.

Patrick founded Canada Bethune Management Corp in 2006 and has built a strong business network focused on investment, cultural exchange and international education. Patrick developed student exchange programs between China and Canada. He also encourages people with an international perspective to invest in related projects so that they can share the resources of mainstream Canadian society.
